Meeting Community Needs

In 2022, ASAE created Meeting Community Needs, an initiative working in partnership with host cities to impact positive change based on the needs of the local community. Workforce was selected as the common issue to show how associations and their destination partners can do well by doing good in the cities where we meet.

For CEO Conclave 2025, ASAE Research Foundation and Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority are working with Hospitality Charitable Foundation to bring a selected group of students to the event to:

  • Expose students to the world of associations, including potential employment opportunities within associations
  • Meaningfully connect them to subject matter leaders that align to their areas of interest
  • Show them the behind-the-scenes world of meetings and conventions and the critical role they play in Las Vegas’s tourism economy
  • Participate as greeters, panelists, and volunteers throughout the event

Mission

Our mission is to provide scholarship and mentorship to students from hospitality industry leaders resulting in lifetime relationships and opportunities.

Vision

We change the trajectory of students' lives.

About

The Future Leaders of Hospitality Program pairs a student with a mentor from the board each year for the duration of their education. Students must be from Clark County, Nevada. The mentor is required to meet with the student at least once a month to provide professional assistance. HCF board and staff are required to meet regularly with the student to ensure students are adhering to HCF policies and standards. Students not meeting the minimum HCF GPA are required to participate in the HCF peer-to-peer tutoring program. Board members and students themselves are tasked with executing HCF’s annual fundraising event, M.E.N.U.S. (Mentoring & Educating Nevada’s Upcoming Students). This once in a lifetime opportunity, allows the student to gain hands-on experience in real-world situation while executing an exclusive dine-around gala.

Scholarship Program

HCF works to create an interest at the high school level, seeking exceptional students committed to furthering their education and skill in hospitality and culinary arts.

HCF’s primary endeavor gives financially underprivileged students the opportunity to attend a four-year college with premier hospitality and culinary programs. The Foundation has sponsored many high school students as interns in various hotels and restaurants both on the Las Vegas Strip and throughout the city and awarded full-tuition academic scholarships to Clark County high school graduates.

We currently have 20 students pursuing degrees and careers in hospitality. Currently, all attend UNLV, however we have had students at: Penn State, Johnson & Wales, Culinary Institute of America (CIA), NY and the Art Institute. Last year’s incoming class had an average GPA of 4.46 and has an average family income of $28,348. In the past 10 years, we have awarded over $2.3 million in scholarship monies!
